Would you apply to med school in senior yearwith a 3.5 sgpa,3.6 cgpa with no UD other then the pre reqs(3 of which you got Cs in which brought down the gpa)
OR
Extend a year after senior year, try and take as many science classes possible , get a 3.7 cgpa and 3.7 sgpa and then apply

Do you think it's necessary
What is your opinion ?

What would you do?

Is it necessary? Maybe not, depending on your ECs. Would it be helpful? Undoubtedly yes.

A year is not a high price to pay for substantially improved chances. It's not just improved grades; it's more time to do things, more time at your ECs. At the schools I've interviewed at so far applicants in their senior year were a minority. It's pretty clear there's no penalty for waiting an extra year or two, and there can be substantial advantages.

I think it definitely depends on how the rest of your app looks. I am currently applying and I graduated in 2012. I wanted to make sure all my ducks were in a row before I applied, and it was the best decision I made. But again, it depends on where you are at with the rest of your app. Grades are only one part, and those look fine.

Is a 3.7 significantly better than a 3.5? Is it such a big difference m? I'm trying weight pros and cons
I haven't taken UD and have been told that I need biochemistry?

Honestly I can't say if it is significant, it also probably depends on the MCAT score to go along with it. I would definitely take Biochem, but you only need it before you matriculate, not before you apply (although I would recommend taking it before you take the MCAT). Also, I may be silly in asking or I may be having an off night, but what do you mean by UD?

Ahhh gotcha. Well, I am personally a fan of waiting and building your app so that it is where you want to be. To many people rush into applying and it doesn't turn out well. But it's your decision!

Going to sum it up once (you have many threads):
do what makes your app look best, this obviously means a higher GPA.
But don't neglect the MCAT or ECs/Volunteering

it depends on the rest of your application. do you have very strong ECs? can you get strong LORs? what is your MCAT? if the rest of your application is strong, then go ahead and apply senior year with the 3.5/3.6. if the rest of your application is average or weak then take the extra year, boost your GPA and improve your overall app.

I think my app needs improvement and have not taken the Mcat yet
So it'd be better to wait
The only thing is I got 1 C in pre req Bio 1, 1 C+ in bio 2, 1C+ in chem 1, and a W I'm organic chem, I can work with the others but how badly will the w in Ochem affect me

Assuming the W is a Withdrawal from Organic Chem, which means you never finished the course, and that's not good, since Organic is one of the Pre-Reqs that you must have completed.

Yes. Duh.

This is a no-brainer: apply with the best possible packet! If your have to ask " is a 3.7 better than 3.5?", then I question your wisdom and judgement.

I was in this situation mid junior year. I decided to apply at the end of my senior year once my GPA had risen. In my case, however, my GPA was mostly rising due to my UD science classes. I think applying at the end of senior year is best to improve your GPA. Early on in the app process I thought I would be satisfied getting into any med school, but now, a few months into the app process, I want to get into the best medical school possible to give me most potential to specialize in what I am interested in.
