I still have not finished my thesis. It was not scientifically written at first and then my advisor wanted me to expand on several points. Now that the MCAT anxiety is over, I can really concentrate on the thesis. My advisor already has the 2 more greulling sections, the introduction and the discussion.

Our plan is to have the report completed by September and defend my thesis as soon as school starts up again. In the meanting there is a grade issue.

My advisor submitted my grade as an incomplete. However, the computer automatically changes the Incomplete to an F in the first couple weeks of the new semester. When I asked my advisor to reset the grade, she told me that the administration is not too keen on doing this again. She asked if I can hold off my application until September. This is where my question comes in.

Should I submit my application with the false F knowing that I will be sending in an updated transcript later on, or should I just wait? My application is almost finished, I am putting the finishing touches on the personal statement and will submit real soon.

thanks for your advise.

My first step would be to appeal the decision to not reset the grade; is there a dean or administrator you can talk to and explain the importance of this issue? If that doesn't work, you could submit early with a letter explaining the false F. Waiting until September to verify AMCAS puts you just ahead of the Augusat MCATers; depending on the strength of your application, this could be the wisest choice for you. Ahhh... I really don't know. You're in a tough spot. I'm curious to hear what others think.

I think that you should get that fixed as soon as possible, then submit your application. The very first thing that AMCAS does with your application is check the classes and grades you entered on the application with the transcipts you send in. If something is wrong, it will be noticed immediately, and your application will be stopped. I would try to explain to whoever is responsible for changing the grade how important it is for you to get your application in soon. I've been told that if you can prevent any confusion (submitting then later giving them a new transcript) in your application, it is in your best interest to do so. You do not want to be black listed by all medical schools as a liar on your application. Make it as correct as possible before submitting.

Whatever you do, if you submit your transcript with an F on it, you are risking almost certain rejection or submission to the bottom of the pile. Apply in September, or have the grade changed somehow. With petition, the grade should get re-reset. If not, you will still (let's hope) have a med school acceptance in hand, and a bit of explanation after-the-fact to that med school ought to set things straight.

Ok here is an update. I e-mailed my advisor explaining why I would like the grade reset. She told me that it is not up to her but up to spme dope in the dean's office. She advised me to e-mail the premed advisor the situation, that she has no problem with the grade being reset, and see if my premed advisor can get the dean to change it.

I did that and am waiting for the response. Keep your fingers crossed for me guys!!
