Right now I have a 3.65 GPA from a top 50 university majoring in anthropology and will be a junior in the fall. I'm interested in taking a post bacc and going to med school. I am volunteering at a hospice right now. The thing is I did take biology 1 and 2 with labs. I got an A in both labs, but a C in the first bio and a B in the second bio. I took these freshman year. In addition, freshman year I stupidly took a 5 credit precalc class and got a B in that too. I feel that because I did take precalc and the bio prereq and did not do as well as I know I could have I will have a problem getting into a post bacc. I would still have to take the physics, chem, ochem in a post bacc. How will I fair in post bacc admissions? If it helps my concentration is in biological anthropology and I have received A's in all classes regarding anatomy, anatomical evolution and forensic anthropology labs. I know career changer post bacc prefer that you take no prereqs and if you do to do very well in them. What are my best options in terms of post baccs due to my situation?

With two years of college remaining, if you want to go to med school, change your major to one that doesn't require you to do a postbac, or otherwise figure out how to get the prereqs done as part of undergrad. Such as a biochem minor. Retake the C.

If you need 5 years to graduate it doesn't matter.

Best of luck to you.

I have a major specific scholarship and therefore can not change majors. A5th year is out of reach because unless your an engineer major or architecture,my university does not let you take more than 10% over credits required, theywant to keep up 4 year graduation rates. Mine requires 120 so I could not takemore than 132 credits, and I need more than 12 extra credits with labs and all.So I'm basically being forced into a post bacc.
