SC state schools have MCAT score average near 30. If you want a good shot at allopathic schools, you should re-take the MCAT again. Also AAMC does not replace your re-takes with more recent grade. They average the old and new grade so your calculation may be different.

This is not true. Only a few schools do it.

I said AAMC schools (ones that use AMCAS). Please read the post carefully.

Baylor College of Medicine doesn't do it.

Nor does:

University of Oklahoma
Tulane
UCLA
Rosalind Franklin
NYMC

(I only listed the schools I applied to, because I can't say for sure about the rest of them.)

Baylor is AMCAS and it is in Texas

I think they joined AMCAS from last application cycle. Until then they had their own just like Columbia.

Not true.

They were part of AMCAS long before I applied a couple of years ago.

I guess you know everything OSUdoc08. I appreciate your knowledge. When I applied in 2000, they weren't on AMCAS. When I reapplied in 2004, they were on AMCAS.

True!

SC schools weigh things differently. USCSOM in particular takes a, "whole person" approach when evaluating each applicant. (*gasp* I thought only DO schools did that!) GPA/MCAT, LORs, and the interview are each weighed 1/3.

A 2-3 point increase in PS should not be a problem. It's just a matter of going back to relearn most of genchem.

I submitted my Baylor application through AMCAS.

What more can I say?

Schools say these things... it's all a lie.. but it sounds good anyways.

Describe the erroneous information please...

dude, you make tons of erroneous posts about caribbean schools. of course, i don't know why i'm bothering to point them out because you're never wrong, i guess. 🙄 for example, just recently you posted that caribbean grads can't practice in texas, which is total bs. ross grads are explicitly approved in texas, and thus far, sgu grads and auc grads haven't had to fight the texas battle because their grads are still getting licenses.

your mcat post was also bs -- the big three caribbean schools all require the mcat, and in fact, will reject students with super low mcats (think teens). and, of course, your usmle stuff. img's from the big three have higher usmle board passage rates than do's. i don't know about saba, but it might fit in there as well. as for the others, well, they sort of don't count. when anybody at sdn asks about attending a caribbean school, it's 100% guaranteed that they're asking about the big 3 or saba -- giving them information based on averages from the cr@ppiest of the caribbean schools isn't exactly helpful.

of course, you don't believe in researching your opinions or providing sources, so whatever. believe what you want -- osteopathic students are way better qualified than students at tthe reputable caribbean schools; baylor is the best school in texas for premeds; osucom is the premiere osteopathic medical school in the country ....

No...it is true....you just don't understand what allopathic schools mean when they say "we look at the whole person".

Like...if a chick is hot....they take that into consideration. 😀

1. It is very difficult for Caribbean grads to both get licensed and attain residency in Texas.

2. I didn't say the "big 3" don't require MCATs. Many Caribbean schools don't, however.

3. You can't 100% guarantee people are asking about 3 specific schools. Sorry.

4. Thanks for the compliment on the schools I attended.
