I unfortunately can't make the commitment to be a medical scribe right now, so I'm looking for a job in which I can be paid and the experience is related to healthcare. I've worked as a pharmacy technician before, so I'm not sure if I should take this job again. Does it count as clinical experience? I was also considering tutoring or freelance writing for an online company. Which option would be the most meaningful and will benefit my application?

I'm usually the odd man out on these things, but when it comes to any work experience, and your application overall, don't overthink it. If you need a part-time job to make money, find one and do it, even if it isn't medically related. If you don't have a lot of clinical experience, then sure, look for something in the healthcare field, otherwise, volunteering is sufficient.

Always frame things with the thought of, if an interviewer asked me about it, what would my answer be. If that's "I worked part-time at a 7-Eleven near campus because I needed to financially support myself during undergrad." That's OK. If you work as a phlebotomist, be sure you have an answer that is more than just, "well it was something medical."

Any work experience is better than nothing even if it is non clinical. If you just need money pick anything you want. If you want to improve your app focus on volunteering, it is easier to find and looks better, since you sacrifice your time to help those in need.

In the spirit of being a "well-rounded applicant" with other skills/interests besides medicine....I took on a supported living job for people with mental disabilities. Still health-care related of course but something I had no experience in.

I have a very positive outlook on the learning opportunity in this role and feel confident I could reflect that in an interview.

One perk to the job: it allows for sleeping hours since I'm the overnight shift. So less waking hours working and more on studying (hopefully).
