What's an average pay for a Dental Assistant?

Can someone tell me what the average pay for a dental assistant would be? I know that it varies from state to state. I'm from Utah with some volunteer assisting experience but haven't actually worked for pay. I applied for a position and was asked what I expected. As much as I can get without seeming greedy...?

that much? i dont think so..there's another thread already about this..i think the avg was around 10-15?

I worked at a slammin' pedo office for 5 years and made $17 an hour. That was in the North Dallas area and was very generous. I don't think there are too many dental assistants that make over $20 per hour.

In San Fran the average RDA makes 25-30, but for no skills def less than 15, I would think.

yeah salary.com says the median was $15/hour but salary.com is always off. I thought maybe $10-13 but found out one dentist was offering $8/hr. =/

I have been working as a dentat assistant for the past 3 years in the DC metropolitan area, and if you dont have experience .. between 10 and 12 is the average. If you have experience is between 15 and 20. Ortho assistant usually make more, but the difference is between 2 to 3 dollars
