what's an Offsetting deduction?

my recent paycheck has a new item appear on the after tax deduction, called Offsetting Deduction:
$1,780. does anyone know what in the world this is? why its subtracted from my bi-weekly earnings this week?

...im guessing its from my ESPP sales last year? since its deducted here, i don't have to report it on tax returns?
