I have a 3.4 science gpa and a 3.2 overall. it will probably go up after the summer by a point. What scores should i shoot for on my dat when i take it in August for the california schools and elsewhere? I would really like to be in cali for 4 years.

you are going to have to shoot for 20+ in ALL sections to be looked at for Cali schools, especially UOP, UCLA, and UCSF.

check out www.predents.com you can get an idea for the scores people get to get in as well as the official averages from the schools from last year's applicants.

good luck.

I would have to disagree howui this cycle UCLA let some low numbers slip through the crack and USC has been known to in the past as well.

california schools are more competitive than others. your GPA is decent, but you need 20+ to ensure a spot.

They may have let "some" low numbers slip, but this is a very small minority. You really do need 20+ if you want a good chance at any of the Cali schools. 🙂

i'm sure there are exceptions. even harvard will have a student with average scores.

i'm also sure if your daddy donates $100 mil to the school, they will take you without the dat.

the op was wondering about his chances. so you must look at the average gpa and average dat scores for those schools to see what you need to get to be in that average group. then, the higher you score the better your chances.

oh, and being native american also helps...
