What's factored into GPA

I plan to begin my prereqs next semester. I need all 8 science classes (math and English I have from undergrad). This will take me about 2 years since I plan to do one course at a time at night, while I work full time.

When I apply to med school, will my GPA be my prereq grades combined with my undergrad GPA? will the two be averaged together, listed separately, etc.? And also, will they accept older grades for prereqs? As I mentioned, my math credit was taken in undergrad, but it has now been 5 years since I graduated, and by the time I apply, it'll be 7-8 years old. I would like that grade to count though since I got an A+ in statistics. Thanks.

On AMCAS, your classes and grades are all listed along with the terms in which you took them. The application then creates a table with some GPA-related statistics. Your GPA will be broken down by year during your undergrad career (freshman/soph/etc.). There will be a separate line for any postbac UNDERGRAD work you've done, as well as a separate line(s) for grad work. For each of those rows, you'll see your BCPM GPA, your AO (all others) GPA, and an overall GPA.
