Is this just the growing sense of hopelessness that many young people are feeling (not condoning it) today, as they're saddled with personal (and sovereign) debt, underemployment, a total distrust of their governments, an increasing sense of social and economic injustice??

London bridge is falling down....

Flirting with the brink of worldwide monetary collapse. Anything goes now, brother.

Got guns??

I bet 90% of them are probably just looking for something to smash or steal. Brits riot over soccer games.

9% of them are probably pissed off about the guy the cop shot (in Tottenham?).

1% of them might be angry about proposed reductions in government cheese.

These same people were rioting about university tuition not long ago.

And 100% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Think about how dumb the average person is. Then realize that half of everyone is even dumber that that. 😱

😀

I know, not really, 1/2 would be dumber than the median dumb person, not the average dumb person, even if dumbness could be accurately (precisely?) measured ... Never mind.

I respect your views on these matters, but I do disagree. I think the take home message is that this is a growing populace of disenfranchised YOUTH in a major European city. What happens as these numbers grow, as standards of living (and opportunities (i.e. for jobs)) continues to be such a scarce resource in so many countries (including the US).

Then, when they are joined by pensioners with fixed incomes, just as disenfranchised albeit for likely slightly different reasons, the situation becomes even more precarious. Throw in some racial tension and you're not too far off from Thunderdome.

How about those laid off civil servants? When critical mass happens, things are going to get ugly. I think it's not unreasonable to think that this could happen.

So many major issues seem to be coming to a boiling point, at right around the same time. This does not bode well for stability.

You beat me to it Narcotized! I was going to say, whenever we need a dose of "the world is going to hell in a handbasket", nobody does it better than our own CFDavid. 😉

(note: not meant to incite, just having a little fun!)
