What are my chances?
I'm a Texas resident and thinking about only applying to Texas dental schools.. but I might change my mind.. Also, I'm graduating in 3 years.
I have 3.6 cumulative gpa/3.4 sci gpa.. and
my DAT breakdown...
Total science: 18 (16/18/19).. BIO! :'(
bio section was nothing like practice questions from destroyer or any other practice exams I took... more complicated and random?? maybe I was nervous 🙁
PAT: 18
QR: 18
RC: 19
AA:18

I have some extra curricular activities, leadership position, +100 shadowing hours...

what do you guys think? retake DAT?????? even possible this cycle?

Might as well apply and see what happens.

I'm so worried about my BIOLOGY score..!! :scared::scared::scared:
do texas schools have minimum score for science section?

You are an average applicant. What more do you want, people have gotten into dental schools with a 16 in biology before. Do most acceptances have a 16 in biology? No. Do some? Yes. So since you are average you do not have the luxury of only applying to 4 schools with confidence you will get into one of those four. So in order to get in you should probably consider that as an average applicant you should apply to an average amount of of dental schools. (most apply to a lot more than 4)

Umm, I'm going to differ from the other posters. I do not think you have a good chance at all. Here's why:

1. You do not have a bachelor's degree. (Almost all dental students complete a bachelor's degree before dental school)
2. I assume since you have 3 more years of undergrad, you have not taken many upper level science courses if any at all.
3. Your DAT score is below average for Texas schools and your GPA is average. TX schools are competitive, an 18/18/18 generally just isn't going to cut it. As far as I know however, there is no strict cutoff for the individual DAT sections.

It's not going to necessarily hurt you to apply but I think you need to focus on your undergrad classes right now. Improve your GPA, retake the DAT when you're ready and you should be good to go.

No I'm graduating early like after my third year of college.. not in 3 years haha
and... i don't have the luxury of applying to 10 schools and waste thousand dollars either... 😡 I will probably retake DAT this winter or spring and reapply again next cycle if I don't have any luck this cycle... i guess all i can do now is wait and see..... at least i'm over with applications! yayy summer! finnaly!

Lol, sorry, I totally misread your post. That changes things. Chances are much better in that case!
