I am currently taking Chem 1 Bio 1 and Physics 1, I sure am busy!!! I already have a B.S. but I never took those courses so its the first time I am taking them. The reason I am taking them is I plan on reapplying to the school of my choice, a 0-6 school which I was rejected from for class of 06. as soon as the final grades come out, as advised my an admissions person.(they also advised me to take the courses in the first place) Thus far as of midterms I have a 4.0 in those courses. My question is should I keep up going to school while I wait for the results of my application? Would it be advantageous for me to take more courses in the spring in case I don't get in, what are my options do I have hope anywheres?? or am I hopeless. 😕

Thanks for your input I could really use ANY!!!

Joe

how can you apply to a 0-6 program if you already have a B.S.? And why would you?

how can I? Very easy. Send the application and all of my transcripts. 🙂 I already did it once. Why? Because the school I want to go two only has two programs 0-6 or a 3yr course of study which is extremely competitive(more than the 0-6 even), and avg GPA for students entering the 3yr program is a 3.9. The GPA of my B.S. is in Computer Engineering Technology only a 3.08. Any input you have on my situation is sincerely appreciated!!

my understanding of a 0-6 program is for people straight out of high school who do not have a bachelors degree. it's sort of like, the first 3 years are like your undergraduate years, and you take the pre reqs that other people take. Then if your grades are good, then you start the actual pharmacy program.

The way you talk about it, it sounds like you're willing to go to school for another 6 years because it would be easier that way. I guess that works, but you'd be with a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds and there's not really a point in taking pre reqs b/c that's part of the 0-6 program.

does anyone else agree?

I am in a six year program, and as far as I know, everybody entered the first year right out of high school. And yes, the prereqs are completed during the first two years, so if they were taken before that the student would just be repeating them. My program only accepts a few transfers into the third year (first professional year), so a few older students might come in then, but otherwise everyone else starts that when they're about 20.

I am more than open for criticism, suggestions what do you guys think would be a more logical path for me?

well, i didn't mean to discourage you too badly. I just wanted you to understand the 0-6 programs. Try calling schools to see what they have to tell you.

otherwise, i would just suggest that you start taking pre reqs, make sure you get good grades in those, and apply to 3 or 4 year programs. Don't forget to get actual pharmacy experience, volunteer hours, and letters of rec. It might take a couple of years, but that's the breaks.

Good Luck, and if youcall the school to ask, please let us know the response. I"m sure there are other people in your situation that considered doing a 0-6 program too.
Cheers

That is my understanding as well. 😕 Could someone else clarify? I didn't know you were still eligible for 0-6 programs if you had a BS already.

Just a little update, I called the school which is my #1 choice, I am able to apply as a transfer to 2nd year. I am happy as can be!! There is a bit more presure to get As on my 3 finals this week coming up now. If I apply for 2nd year there is only one science course I will have to repeat, and if I get accepted thats when I will try to negotiate getting out of the electives!!
