of interviews an applicant usually goes to?

I think this question is flawed because people apply to different numbers of schools, so speaking of an average number of interviews per applicant seems sort of pointless. Even if we could calculate the average, it wouldn't be very helpful. Count people who have 0 interviews together with those that go to many... It just doesn't seem like we can get useful information here.

Ok fine...if you've already applied to med schools/are in med school...how many interviews did YOU go on? I'm just looking for a number to those who end up actually getting interviews. Why would I include the ones that had 0?..2 interviews? 5? 12? I read on here no one goes to more than 13 or 14

do you mean interviews awarded, or interviews attended?

we could compile data at the end of the admissions cycle (sorry, nerdy scientist)

one interview last cycle, never got off the waitlist.

Interviews attended. I'm assuming most people would go to every interview they were awarded unless they already held an acceptance? So how many has everyone gone on that has applied before? And I guess I could ask again at the end of this admissions cycle...

3.44 was the average last year.

I am sure that the overall number is higher Asians; since most Asians, especially RETICENT FEMALES, have trouble articulating themselves, they need more interviews

On the other hand, some people from other cultures are WAY TOO LOUD and look unsophisticated & Barbaric

You never fail to impress. BTW, sweet avatar.

i have 15 interviews, but i'm definitely planning on dropping some when acceptances (or rather, if they) start rolling in.

Congrats on all the interviews!👍

I'm not trying to be snarky, but where DID that stat come from? MDApps?

I have no idea, I'd like to know myself. You can't always trust mdapps.

Impressive as usual. How many of those are instate? (and how many instate school do you have, i'm assuming you got all of them)

I'm in New York where we have 4 instate schools. I have interviews at all of them right now, but I may drop them depending on if anything comes on the 15th.
Best of luck with your schools!

It really depends on each person.

I personally am going to every single I get, no matter what. It is the only way for me to judge if I would actually attend a certain school. I thought I was going to HATE one of the schools I interviewed at, but I loved it so much. You just never know.

I look at it this way...I have already invested at least $100 in each school, I can drive to each city, and stay with friends or family in each city, so the cost of each interviews for me is pretty low.

I know some people who want to be in a specific area, so when they get into a school in that area, they are cancelling all the other interviews outside that city.

A HUGE consideration for me is the cost. If I get accepted anywhere (crossing my fingers and thinking positive thoughts on that one), I need to look at the financial aid package before I make a decision, but that's just me!! 🙂

Not everyone is in your position. I live far from most of my interviews, so going to any more than I have to is adding on expense and hassle needlessly. Yes, there are differences between schools, but I've already been to several that I would be happy at.

That being said, 9 of my 10 interviews happen before Oct. 15, so if I get an early acceptance I will only be cancelling one interview.
