What's the consensus on LOR's?

Every school has a different story. How many letters do I need, and who do they need to be from? How can I cover my bases as a predent? What are the wildcard schools with funky requirements?

PS. Some searching didn't turn up the answer I was looking for.

This is really supposed to be your homework since you choose your schools to apply to and, you are right, they are all different. But you wanna cover the bases, here:


1 Biology Professor
1 Chemistry/Biochemistry/Orgo/etc. Professor
1 more Science Professor (any hard science from bio to physics to chem)
1 dentist who you have shadowed 30+ hours
1 non-science professor
1 employer or volunteer or research supervisor
1 religious mentor (pastor, preist, etc.)

If you got all 7 of those, you'd cover your bases for almost any dental school you'd apply to.
