Any help would be appreciated! Also, where can I find out about various dates related to the upcoming application cycle?
To my knowledge you're Dat score is valid for 3 years. It doesn't have to be after a designated date to be considered for a certain admission cycle.
As far as how late you can give Dat? My friend took his in early September(kinda late imo) and got an interview for January.
I think as long as you take it by July 1st, you're in good shape. June 1st is excellent, and with the ~2-3 weeks it takes for scores to be received by adea, you should make it for the second batch assuming you have you transcripts in & grades verified/LORs in as well. cycle opens june 1st, first batch and 2nd batch are the sane in terms of adcoms reviewing it (from my limited understanding) so the second/3rd week of june for being complete is great.
Do not plan on retaking the DAT. i wouldnt even make it an option. if youre not ready, push it back a month. "A candidate must wait at least 90 days before retaking the DAT.". if you take it june first, dont expect to retake it until september 1st + the 2-3 week delay in scores being received.
I took my DAT on July 28th, and got 3/14 interviews and 3/14 rejections before the new year. Had a good DAT and a lower GPA.
That's a good point- I forgot about the 90 day rule. So if I delay it till mid/end of June (in case I am not ready), I should still be ok, right? I am in the same boat as you. My GPA is on the lower end, so I am counting on the DAT to save meee!
Generally yes, but something to also consider is that if you realize you are not prepared for the june first exam, you MIGHT be delayed beyond june if all of the other june test dates are booked.
What does your semester now look like? What do you summer plans look like? GPA? standardized test taking? (if you dont mind)
How much time do you have to devote to studying before may?
