my next interview is gonna be a killer (financially). $400 for plane ticket alone. what sucks is that it's in remote place and so i couldn't pair with the other interview i have. probably $100 for food and transportation. hopefully i'll get hosting though.

can anyone top that? which would make me feel better 😉

Last year when i interviewed at UIC rockford:

$400 plane ticket
$50 bus (2-ways) from airport to school
$100 two nights hotel
$75 for food

and no, i did not get in

Commuting between Germany and the U.S., so I've been working with the schools to consolidate the interviews a bit.
First interview - UTH...Plane ticket = $650. Leave for Houston on a Thurs. Return back to Germany on Sat.

I spent $45 on my drive to new orleans (diesel....70 miles/gallon), spent a little bit on dinner for my host. I think I have the record for cheapest out of state interview.

Damn, what kind of car do you have?
As cheap as it was, I could never have the patience to drive that far and then back again the next day!

You're my hero. I might have time off from the working world in the next few months so I'm hoping I can (assuming I get interview invites) drive to some of them. Hopefully I won't have to do this in the dead of winter...

Come on, west coast schools! Interview and accept me b4 the east coast ones beatcha!
