So, I'm wondering what exactly is the process here regarding military and dental synergy.

Is it "Join the military with a bachelors and we'll put you through dental school"

or is it

"Hey I'm already a dentist let me come work for you and youl help pay off stuff for me"

The military offers both. If you are currently applying to dental school, look into the HPSP or HSCP programs. If you are about to graduate dental school or are already a licensed dentist, look into HPLRP. Searching is your friend.

I know for the Air Force that most of their dentists came by way of scholarships (HPSP). They are currently accepting very few dentists that are already practicing due to the fact that they are over staffed. I am not currently a dentist, still a dental student, but this is what I have heard regarding how the Air Force in particular staffs dentists.
