So i've heard people talking about super bad interview experiences. And now I see that the interview feedback on this website has been taken down at the schools request. Whats the deal?

Do a search. This has been talked about extensively.

The "deal" is that our interview is not like any other traditional interview. Sure it's different and not everyone loves it (I didn't do so well on my first try), but they do manage to pick great people for the school, so something must be working...

I believe the interview feedback is suppressed to try to give all applicants a fair shot at doing well in the interview. We have current event questions and things of that nature to select students who are aware of the world around them. How would you like to interview on the first day and get asked what countries border Turkmenistan (because who really knows?) and then see a week later that some applicant with a chip on his shoulder has posted the whole interview to everyone?

If anyone wants to know about the interview at ASDOH, just ask one of us. We'll tell you what we can and we won't tell you what we can't. It's not nearly as big a deal as people make it out to be...It's actually a lot tamer now than it was a couple of years ago. Most people get the current event questions now if they've turned on the TV in the last week. It used to be that you could memorize names and events from the NY Times for a month and still get floored with questions like "name 5 living heads of state excluding past and current U.S. Presidents." Perhaps Midwestern applicants will get all the really tough current event questions now. They have the mastermind.

I, as well as many other people on SDN who wasted money for the ASDOH interview, will tell anyone everything about the interview - even what I am supposedly not suppose to tell. In the end, it's just an interview.

If the interview is based on CURRENT events then why do they care if PAST questions are posted? Someone on their adcom must have bitten into a cactus, or the desert heat is getting to them...

ASDOH interview sounds more like hazing if you ask me. very secretive, harsh, and the only ones defending it are the ones that were accepted--much like a fraternity 🙄

I was feeling the same way when it came to my ASDOH interview. I was frustrated reading the **** about it on SDN. I was a little worried about all this current events stuff and I already read the newspaper, many news home pages and watch the nightly news. So the real scoop on the interview is:

It's not bad at all. If you ask me the current events was really just a few questions about nothing too crazy. If you don't know 2 current supreme court justices I don't know how the hell you can graduate from college. I believe 100% that you could have got all the ?'s wrong as long as you didn't try to BS your interviewers. There is literally 6 questions, nothing to get beat up over right. Other than that standard interview ?'s (i.e why do you want to be a dentist? Why Arizona?). I did not sweat one bit and enjoyed my interview. However I have heard others say the interviewer was busting their balls.

This is dental school admissions process. It's not supposed to be easy or everyone would get in. I mean what are they supposed to do just hand you an admissions letter when you walk in the door? Here Mr. X were begging you to come to our school. Everything you did to get to get to this point has been difficult. What makes you think an admissions interview will be any different? Perpare yourself now. There are many schools where I have heard that the interview is a breeze i.e UOP. So maybe people are expecting all interviews to be the same. Maybe some people have ****ty personalities (maybe even me, but somehow I fooled them, j/k) and thats why they find this interview difficult. Believe me there is nothing to sweat about if you interview at AZ. Just ask about the interview and you shall recieve. there are many on SDN that will give insight on the interview.

Sorry to those who did not like the AZ interview or those who found it difficult. I'm not the brightest guy nor do I have the worlds greatest personality. I just didn't find this interview to be anything tough.

Wasted money becuase you weren't accepted? I doubt you telling anything about your interview from last year will help applicants this year, but it's worth a shot.

Wasted money because the school did not live up to its hipe here on SDN, and I did not want to attend.

Why doesn't anyone understand? They don't suppress their feedback because of the current event questions. It's because they don't want anyone to talk about the guantlet that they make applicants run through naked while the adcoms wack their butts with paddles.

Money isnt all wasted. At least you get to go to a beautiful and fun city.

I've never known SDN to be very ASDOH friendly. What hype are you talking about?
