sup guys....i looked through a whole bunch of bio materials and i wanted to get some feedback. what do u guys think is the best way to study for Bio? (besides textbooks, cuz i dont got that much time) so like some people say kaplan, others say Rea's, campbells, etc....please list only one source, cuz i only have enough time to read through like one study aid. i take my exam within a few days.
thanks so much

I used kaplan and my campbell's book to reinforce some basic concepts (respiration, photo etc). it wasnt enough for me though (got a 17 in bio) coz the bio was like either u know it or u dont. lots of wierd questions.
good luck! 🙂

I used Kaplan as a guide and bio textbook for reference. Worked very well for me. Just make sure you understand everything that?s in that Kaplan book.
Good luck!

all i used was the kaplan book and topscore, i got a 19 on the bio section.

Why are you posting this in the pre-dental forums?

And to answer your question, the answer was to start studying a few weeks ago, not a day or two in advance. Biology isn't something that you can cram for the night before... unless you want a 'D'.

As far as studying in advance goes, I'd recommend going over class notes, making flash cards, reading over the reading assignments your prof. assigned and doing review questions (practice makes perfect, sure you've heard that one before).
Don't go to your teacher the day before the test with questions because s/he is more than likely going to get annoyed.
I buy and read a lot of supplementary materials, that always helps me (I particularly like The Complete Idiot's Guide series, I think they're very well written).
I have a biology test on Oct. 15th and started skimming over the material a few days ago. My first test I got a 94% on (missed 3 questions), and am disappointed with myself because I know had I reviewed a bit longer I would've easily gotten 100% (the class average was a 65%, wonder when those people started studying 🙄 )

I don't mean to be flaming, I'm just stressing the importance of preparing ahead of time.

By the way, the book I use for my biology course is the Campbell-Reece Biology book 6th edition... I think that one is the standard amongst most basic bio courses.

Good luck on your test 👍

EDIT: whoops, is he talking about a biology course test or a standardized exam?

He's talking about the bio section on the DAT.

about the DAT....hehe...but thats some solid advice also for those taking BIO class

😱 You're taking it in a few days!? What are you doing on the forums then, go go study!

Like how you causually mentioned how you got a great grade, but it still wasn't good enough. Your such a flamer. get over yourself.

HD 😀

riiggghhhtt 🙄

I was simply showing that if you use the resources I did you can do quite well. By the way i'm not the first score poster in this thread...

P.S. - I'm very satisfied with my bio grade; PAT is another story 😀

he was talking about me, and no, I'm not a flamer... I'll admit a 94% is a good grade, but don't you just hate it when you look back over a test and say 'oh, crap I knew that, why didn't I get it right?' You know, the stupid little mistakes...

and besides, it's normal for one to feel proud about themselves when they do well... we all do it, even you.
