What's your personality

There's a much more reliable way to tell if you fit in. Go do a rotation in the ED and see if you get along well with the ED attendings and residents. If you do, then your answer is pretty much certain. There will be some regional variability between programs of course.drboris said:ER docs, please post your myers briggs personality...I kow Quinn is ESTJ.
I am considering EM and I am ESFJ (once in a while ESTJ). Do I fit in?

Context is everything...joaquin13 said:i was told by my ICU attending today that my personality was a perfect fit for my career choice of emergency medicine (im a 4th yr student). Is that a compliment or insult coming from them? I didnt know how to take it.
I was told the same thing by my medicine director as a med student. 😎
Don't worry, theyre just jealous because we get all the chicks. 😀
I don't know what my MB personality test is.... who cares? rotate in the ED. If you love it, then go for it. If you hate it, don't look back.
Most people seem to have very strong reactions towards the ED: love or hate.. very little in between....

Or we are the chicks. One of the women in my residency class was hot!roja said:Don't worry, theyre just jealous because we get all the chicks. 😀
Actually, it doesn't work so well to get the guys. 😉 although I have noticed ortho not minding coming in so much lately.
drboris- There is no one awnser. The personality things rarely offer insight unless you have no understanding of what you yourself are like and what you want out of a career.
in EVERY field, you will have a very LARGE diversity of personality. This holds true in EM as well. We have quiet geeky research people. Gregarious friendly warm fuzzy people. Crotchity grumpy people. Rude uptight people.
There is no magic field for a specific personality. You just have to figure out if you like the work adn the lifestyle and go from there.
Oh, and if your a virgo DONT go into ER. They never do well. 😉

We did those things every year of med school and every time i came out in a different group. Guess I couldn't remember if I'd said I like solving problems by thinking or with my emotions asked in 50 different ways from year to year. I do remember one of the tests had a key to tell us which specialty we should consider and I KNOW I"D NEVER FIT IN AS A PATHOLOGIST. When we had to organize my class by our MB scores one year I'm pretty sure that none of us going into EM were in the same group, but noone's quit yet. Those tests don't mean much. Roja's right, rotate and then decide if it's for you.
Same here - ESTJ/ESFJ flip flop. Going EM most likely (barring a natural disaster or something). Hope it fits. How about capricorns? are we ok?drboris said:ER docs, please post your myers briggs personality...I kow Quinn is ESTJ.
