Agreed. I thought pharmacists capped out relatively quickly, obviously I thought wrong.

The majority of pharmacists do cap out very quickly in terms of their purchasing power. They may receive an annual raise (hopefully) but the % is generally comparable to inflation and thus have actually stayed even in terms of what they can buy. The financial power of a pharmacist is the high, early income that, if invested well, can equate to the overall earning potential of an average physician.

My question might be a little bit off topic but how much does pharmacist generally make as (1) minty new graduate, (2) after residency (provided that they have a job lol). I just want to get a general sense ^^

New pharmacists make about 54 dollars in retail and 45 in hospital.

if you work as a pharmacist at a city hospital and are able to work a lot of overtime hours -> big bucks. highest-paid city hospital pharmacists in sf make 200+ a year with overtime

Wait until Oct-Nov hits when 1000 CA new graduates get their license, I wanna see how many OTs you can get after that.

I must have missed it. Xiphod's wife is also a pharmacist?

At the risk of derailing again, how well does that work out, relationship wise? Do you have to consciously stop the shop talk or find it nice that someone else relates? I'm about to enter pharma school & the long-term s/o is getting back on track pre-pharm, so just curious. Actually, this could probably be its own thread... 😛

At least 2 other couples in my class also got married, and a few more that might. I like it fine. Exchange knowledge on nursing home and inpatient pharmacy. Lots of "quality time" relating to and venting about pharmacy issues. It can get a little much, but only very rarely. Good income, networking opportunities, drug rep dinne...*seminars*, on top of everything else that a normal marriage has, it's beautifully nerdy. 🙂

0.9% - worse than last year 🙁
