When acetylcholine lands on a neuron's receptor, what mechanism is initiated? 2nd messenger?

Depends on the effector organ. In skeletal muscle its ionotropic (causes depolarization). In visceral organs (autonomic - parasympathetic division) its metabotropic and acts via g linked protein receptor... Leading to the cascade ur referring to.
