when apply for 4-year hpsp?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
junior or senior year of undergrad?
what month?

thanks.
I obviously did the Navy, and I started applying at the beginning of my senior year (the exact month doesn't really matter). My package didn't go up to the board until late Feb or early March (by then I was already accepted and I included this in my package). It took me a few months to jump through all of the hoops (Letters of rec, AMCAS application, etc..). Your process may take longer or shorter depending on your recruiter and how well he/she can do paperwork. This is really all they are good for anyway. I got all the important stuff off of this forum.

I don't know about other services, but I hear from other posts around here that they may only do a couple of boards a year. I'm not sure about this though. 😕 I know the Navy meets once a month or something like that.

Good Luck! 😀

Army boards seem to meet once a month. I would start your application in the fall of your senior year, about the time you get the last of your secondaries off and are waiting for interviews. This gives you plenty of time to do paperwork and research out the various services.

Army boards every month for Medical HPSP. So do the AF and Navy until they run out of scholarships. Best time to apply is when you have MCAT results in hand and the absolute best time is when you have an acceptance letter in hand. Some services (Army in particular) have waht they call Automatic Acceptance Criteria (29 or higher MCAT and 3.5 or higher GPA) which means that you will be granted the scholarship if you apply for it as long as you meet Military standards and will not have to board (compete)for it.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. Should of specified that I will be going Army (if I do the HPSP) since I am already in Army ROTC.
