I just visited their website and read the instructions, but there's no mention of when they are going to accept applications. Should I go ahead mail them my SAR?

I submitted my SAR about 3 weeks ago and they said that I had to wait until May 4th in order to receive it for this upcoming app cycle.

Thank you for your response.

Other than your signed and dated SAR, what else did you send them? Self-addressed, stamped envelope? Did you write your AACOMAS application # on the SAR?

Thanks,

Does aacomas application number stay the same from previous application?

When can we send transcripts?

For those trying to submit for a waiver: last year it was not possible to submit via email/fax -- one had to mail application.

So for west-coasters they advised an overnight service as they said they get a lot of them fast and there are only limited numbers available.

I'm sending mind on tuesday next week.

I sent one in about 4 weeks ago and 2 weeks later got a message in my AACOMAS account saying that they wouldn't take it until the cycle opens. I'm assuming May 1st, but it sounds like it may actually be the 4th?

Either way, I may just send another a few days after the first because it seems like it may take a while to process it.

AACOMAs received my fee waiver application yesterday and I immediately received a response today. Their processing time is so much quicker than I originally thought it would be!

When did you send in your application? How did they notify you?

Do I have to resubmit my transcripts even though there are no changes on them?

I sent in my application the day before the cycle opened and was notified this monday that it had been received and approved.

You'll be notified through the aacomas website under the support tab in the top right corner of the window. They'll also send a message via your email account.

"This communication is to inform you that you have met the requirements for an AACOMAS fee waiver. If you are applying online, you must wait until the application fee waiver is applied to your account prior to paying and submitting your application. If you pay and submit your application prior to AACOMAS posting your fee waiver to your account, the fee waiver will become invalid.

The fee waiver may be applied to a maximum of three (3) AACOMAS colleges with no charge. If you wish to apply to more than three colleges, beginning with the fourth designation, you must pay the standard application fee. For example, to apply to one additional college (four total), you must pay the standard AACOMAS fee for one college; to apply to two additional colleges (five total), you must pay the standard fee for two colleges. Please refer to the current AACOMAS application instructions for the appropriate application fees if you wish to apply to additional colleges.

Note: The AACOMAS application fee waiver is for the AACOMAS fee only. These fee waiver vouchers are only valid for 45 days from June 3rd when application submission begins. You must submit your application within that time frame to receive the waiver. After 45 days, if there is any balance, your fee waiver voucher(s) will be revoked and awarded to another recipient."

One quick question, do we send the SAR for 2012-2013 or for 2013-2014?

I am about to start summer classes for 2012-2013, so when it says send the ones from "the current year" I am not quite sure which they want.

I sent in my 2013-2014 SARs and they approved it.

What is a SAR?

What is a SAR?

Your student aid report from FAFSA. You will get it emailed to you after you apply for the FAFSA. Otherwise, I believe you can sign in and download it.

The SAR is what they use to determine if you will receive the waiver, usually based on the expected family contribution (EFC) on the first page of the SAR

That's what I received today 🙂

Ok... Not applying for waiver. Thanks...

Got a message from them saying they need my tax return also??? Anyone else have this issue? The problem is, I didnt file a tax return this year because I didnt make enough to have to.

Me too! So happy! Sad though that it only applies to three schools then you have to pay the obscene 160 for your fourth school (I am more than happy with it overall though)

They said they might ask this if your SAR indicated you were selected for verification. I would try my best to fill out a 1040 form if I were you. I believe that's all they really need.

I didn't get an SAR. Are they easy to obtain?

It also says that I can submit my most recent tax return, which I can easily do. Any advice?

you don't have to pay 160$ for the 4th school, only the 35$ Can a previous applicant please confirm though?
Oh, that would be awesome! I just assumed because it says you have to pay the amount of one medical school and in the fee page it says that your first medical school is 160 then 35 each after.

SAR is what you get from filling out a fafsa on fafsa.gov. Go there and fill one out asap

Just found out that since I'm 23 I have to file as a dependent of my dad, who makes too much money for me to receive the waiver. Even though I've been 100% financially (taxes and everything else) independent from him for 4 years. I've barely even talked to him this year.

What a crock. 👎

I didn't want to create another thread, so I'm going to ask this hear.

Does anyone have a list of schools that honor your fee waiver status and waive the fee of their secondary applications?

Did you guys just send the first page of your SAR or did you send every page of the document?

It seems that they're mainly looking for your EFC....which is on the first page.
