When can you submit ? What does that exactly mean ? Before MCAT ? Before Transcripts are sent to AMCAS ?

What is the advantage of submitting early versus just waiting till the MCAT scores come back ??

You can submit now. You could submit starting June 5th. Submitting your application puts you in line to have your course work verified against your transcripts by AMCAS. If I were you, I'd submit before MCAT. That way, your application will be verified and sent to schools, ready for review as soon as your MCAT scores arrive. Many schools will even send you secondaries before your MCAT arrives, so you can get going on them.

If anything here still does not make sense to you, I strongly recommend you read the Applicant Information Guide to get a better understanding of the allopathic application process.

Can you submit before your transcripts are sent to AMCAS ?

So your transcripts won't be verified before you submit?

Yes, you can submit your application now, but you still will have to wait until your transcripts arrive for your application to be reviewed.

In other words, if you submit your application now and AMCAS doesn’t have your transcripts, they will wait to review your application until they receive your transcripts. As Z said, Review and approval of your application consists of AMCAS checking the course work you entered against your transcripts and calculating your GPA.

Send in your transcripts now if you already haven't.

Good Luck :luck:

Submit your app to AMCAS right now. Have your official transcripts sent to them ASAP. When your MCAT scores come out they will automatically be submitted to the schools you applied to. I made the mistake of waiting till my MCAT score from last August came out before I even submitted and I suffered because of my late application. I eventually got into a med school, but I have a feeling I would have gotten more interviews/acceptances if I didn't wait till late October to submit my primary application. Don't make the same mistake as me.
