Seeing how a little more than half a week has passed since the application opened, where are you in the process of applying?

Bumping

Kudos to the people who already got it in already.
I'm going to do it tonight or tomorrow morning.

Have any of you guys heard back from AADSAS about anything yet or started on secondaries?

I haven't seen any changes or updates or anything. I don't expect to for a while. I submitted the 4th, but delivered my transcript matching forms around noon on the 1st. It's not necessary, but I'm trying not to be the horror story victim with missing transcripts and LOEs.

For secondaries, I've sent out 4 additional fee checks; only one of those wanted a little something besides the AADSAS stuff.

I will most likely be submitting tomorrow but possibly even today! I'm just kind of ready to get it in and wait. I'm sick of revising my personal statement and sick of filling out the app lol i'm ready to play the waiting game.

That's what I was feeling. You hit a point where nothing you do is going to make a drastic difference. If it's ready to go, prolonging it just causes undue stress. It's a big deal, but you gotta say goodbye and let her go.

Did anyone call AADSAS? I never did. But I'm think in just the first week we've got some people in the dozen club already. (I'm not suggesting that's a bad thing. We're paying a good amount of money. We should be able to call and ask for the time and weather for the next year as far as I'm concerned.)

Yeah I guess anything we do now doesn't make a difference huh? I was thinking of getting in some shadowing hours with a specialist, such as ortho, because I only have a general dentist. The reason why is because my GPA is low. Do you guys think it's better to submit later and get those hours or to submit now without those hours and just be earlier?

Thanks

Submitted Sunday, June 5th. Waiting for the DAT scores and transcript to get updated. Also waiting for one last professor to send my letter to the letter service so I can upload that too. So right now I'm just sending my application fees for the schools that want them now, and also secondaries for schools that want them now.

I'd personally submit now without those hours if I were you. 5 hours total between June 2011 through June 2011 will not be as beneficial as getting your transcripts verified early. But that's just me..

Submit now. Some secondaries ask if you have done any shadowing since you submitted your app. Submit now and still shadow. If you get an interview, you can talk about a great experience you had with ortho.

Just finished. Haven't submitted yet though, having my PS read over by a few people. Also like someone else mentioned, I'm shadowing this periodontist for the first time Friday, but don't want to put his name down until I've definitely seen him. I do plan to keep shadowing him a few times after that but won't wait to submit (this weekend hopefully).

I have to admit I'm starting to wonder if there's any real difference between someone who submits during any time this month, considering transcripts, letters, DAT scores, etc all seem to take 3-6 weeks to complete.

I agree - I've already gotten all of my stuff submitted, but with how long everything takes, I really don't think that it's going to matter much... I wish they were more clear on exactly when things are going to be sent out to schools.

I called about when they submit. The first batch will be sent out June 23rd so if you get it in before that then you should be good. Last year I submitted mine at the end of July and even though my transcripts were in and GPA was calculated it still took 4 weeks to process once I e-submitted which meant my app didn't go out to the schools until the end of august. So my understanding is that apps will be sent out 4 weeks after you e-submit. I don't know if thats true for June. But if you wait until June 23rd to submit your app, schools may not get it until the end of July. Food for thought.

wait so you mean there's a few more weeks of processing after i click submit?! and i thought we had to wait for them to receive letters of rec + transcripts before we could submit. omg you guys are scaring me. can someone clarify?

You do not need to wait on transcripts or letters of rec to be uploaded. If thats all you have left, go ahead and submit your application.
