Hi. Does anyone know the general time period when med school stop sending out invitation? I applied late (mid oct) and currently have only 3 interviews in the works even though I applied to 14 schools. 9 schools have not send a rejection or an invitation and it's already mid Jan. Does that mean that the chances for interview invitation have drastically reduced for late applicants?

Thank You

Depends on the school. I've heard of some schools sending invites as late as March (SLU, Jefferson), and some schools already stopped a few weeks ago (Mayo, NYU). Check the school specific threads of years past. That should give you a good clue, but that is also subject to change.

Changes for interview invitation are drastically reduced for late applicants. That is true.

The later it gets the less likely you are going to get invited. But its not impossible until you get the rejection (although some schools never send a rejection).

Feb-Mar is on average the end of interview invites with the last interviews occurring in April.

I would just call the schools you are still waiting to hear from and just ask them. I did this last week and now I know when their last interview invites go out. That way if I don't hear from them by that time I know I didn't make the cut.
