When do we do VSAS for aways?

I just got the email for VSAS with my login information. I have been given no info from my school on how to apply for away rotations. When so people typically turn in their applications? I am interested in surgery and haven't even done the rotation yet during ms3.... What if I end up not wanting to do surgery? Can I change aways I apply to later?

Feb-May is VSAS season for most. I believe March is when the vast majority start accepting applications.

Yes you can apply to any elective at any school on VSAS. You are never locked into a specialty as far as VSAS is concerned. Although stuff fills up so if you decide on something new in May you might be not able to rotate exactly where you want.

If you're super interested in a given program, check when their deadlines are due soonish.

I did an away at a program that was outside of VSAS and had a March 1 deadline.
