So I've been debating whether or not I should retake more courses over the summer to improve my GPA. I'm just not sure if it's worth the money and effort, especially considering I will have already submitted my application and would have to update them with my new grades in July or August.

So if I have a 3.4 cGPA and sGPA is it worth retaking one class that I got a C in to bump both my GPA up to around 3.45; what about retaking 2 courses to bump my GPA up to around 3.5? Should I just settle with the 3.4? Is a 3.45 a big difference; is a 3.5? It seems like a 3.4 is on the lower side for a lot of schools, while a 3.5 is closer to the median.

A 3.4 is fine for any DO school. Maybe CCOM might be fussy about it, but they can't sneeze at 30+ MCAT score.

Where did the OP say they had a 30+ mcat??

nowhere, but they are just saying this is all dependent on the rest of the application. you can't look at just one piece on the app (unless it's like cheating IA, etc)

a 22/3.4 would give you some serious issues, aka more than likely not II anywhere

a 30/3.4 obviously *may* give you an issue at one or two schools, but would likely result in many II

I have a 29 MCAT. So the consensus that it is not worth retaking 2 more courses to bump my GPA from 3.4 to 3.5? There are A LOT of schools that appear to have average cGPAs in the 3.6 region and sGPAs in the mid 3.5 region, which is concerning. CCOM, DMU, RVU, NYITCOM, Rowan, MSU, KCUMB, COMP-NW, etc...

I'd say if you have the opportunity to retake your 2 courses at very cheap local uni or 2 year cc, then do it. Otherwise, don't spend any more money. You're better off applying (not that aren't you now). Whether applying with a 3.4 or 3.5, you'll have a nice round, especially when coupled with your mcat. You're seeing averages of 3.5 to 3.6 but mcat averages may be lower than your actual score so keep that in mind

They are AVERAGES. That means there were apps below and above those numbers. Don't retake if you don't want to.
