When exactly should I tell my LOR writers when I need the letters by?

A doctor who is writing my LOR asked when I would need it. What is an ideal, but specific, date. Also, are LOR submitted with secondaries typically or primaries?

You submit with primary typically, just easier. I'd tell them May 1st but since that is passed tell them by end of the month. You really need them by the time you submit your application, as it all goes out as a big PDF to the schools.

Damn. My schools Pre-medical committee doesn't even interview until July. Will that set me back significantly? All other parts of my app would be in order.

That sucks, still get your app in as many med schools don't "require" such to initially evaluate your app. Some specifically say recs must be provided prior to interview and some want them with secondaries, so that buys a little time. I personally would see if my profs would provide a letter directly. You add their name and email on aacomas and then later add the committee letter. I personally provide the committee with a letter for those who shadow me and then reword it very slightly and upload it to whatever app site.
