When I get in...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'll remind my parents that they agreed to buy me a laptop and digital camera when I got in. 😀 (Hey man, they didn't pay a cent for undergrad) Then I'm quitting all my jobs and taking a trip to Asia!!

You must be trying to refer to Depakote and I when we will tattoo MiesVanDerMom's two year old!!! We must also tattoo all of her two year old's friends!!!

my two year old would love it! he's into me and my husband's tattoos and refers to them as "cookies" since I have a cookie monster tattoo. I am not sure how all the other moms would feel though. Maybe if we told them the tattoo would help their kids get into a good school...

I'm running down my street nude with the letter in hand if i find out while at home.

If i find out while at work and i don't like the job or my boss - i will go apesh*t first - screaming "i got in!" - then head over to my boss and raising both hands and giving two fingers while saying "fack-you" like that guy from Scarface...then run out of the building nude towards the bus stop.

Wait to buy a PC laptop until next year when Windows Vista will be out. That's my .02.
I'm running it now. They made some NICE improvements, but I still like Mac's more.

Why, oh why on Earth would you get a tattoo of Cookie Monster? Where is it?

I see lots of people talking about buying digital SLR's. I'm a total photography buff and let me just say I couldn't be happier with my Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D). The 8MP pictures are great, and it's extremely fast and durable. I bought it before a month-long trip to Paris and I'm happy to say I have some incredible pictures. I got it in a package with two lenses, 4GB card, tripod, 2 cases, 3 filters, etc., etc. all for about $1200...but it was well worth it!

Anyway, last year I had one interview and 17 rejections. I took the rejection letter from the school I interviewed at, framed it, and used it as motivation as I studied to retake the MCAT. I did much better, and will be happy to burn the letter once I'm finally accepted....UNLESS I get into a better school in which case I'll keep the letter just as a reminder that they could have had me! hahaha (evil laugh)!

Ha!! They made some Mac OS look-a-like improvements which gladly eat up even more CPU and GPU clock cycles! I agree it looks much better, but I'm not willing to sacrifice performance for some silly window effects. By the way....go to the System control panel, Advanced tab, Performance...settings. Uncheck everything or hit "for best performance" and hit OK. Look familiar?! I can't believe that they just piled effects on top of what is essentially the Windows 2000 appearance. People always said Windows was a clown suit for DOS. That has changed, but in my opinion both Windows XP and Windows Vista are elaborate clown suits for Windows 2000, which is a pumped up version of Windows NT 4.0. Is it really too much to ask for some innovation from Microsoft?

Get really really drunk............or just go sailing and diving for the week before heading back to reality. Or maybe the combination of the two.

gonna get the new 8 gb ipod nano in black or silver.....hot damn.

I'm going to buy myself a nice laptop, probably one of those new Apple laptops that can run Windows, a new digital camera, and and iPod (yea, I'm one of the few people in the world who doesn't have one yet).

How about the rest of you?

C.Koo

I'll do the same as you after I win the lottery 🙂

and then I'll pay off my $70,000 undergraduate debt with whatever is left of my lottery winnings.

once i get in (hopefully please), i will:

1) jump up and down for joy until my legs quiver
2) finish off my MS program with flying colors
3) travel
4) smoke some weed (haven't done that in 5 yrs)
5) get plastered at some point (haven't done that in 3 yrs)
6) get a brand new badass desktop pc with a core 2 duo processor since med school may require me to buy a laptop through them (either way, i don't take notes on a computer)
7) my dad promised me a new car since i've helped him pay off the house and my current car while going to college and now he's rolling in the dough

there's more but i try not to think about that glorious day lest i get my hopes up.

I got the black NANO- and luv it. It's only 2 gb- and it has revoluntioned my workouts....There's nothing like running, kickboxing, or lifting weights to the voice of Alicia Keyes!

GET THE NANO NOW!

The nano is almost too small...I feel like I could accidentally send it through the washing machine or something

Yes, excellent. My kind of girl!

Sounds like you thought about this one pretty much all the way through. However, it just sounds bad to have such huge plans and end up having to take the bus...:meanie:

There is something about the nanos I just don't like. Aside from the early screen scratching problem.....you pay so much for that space and there are actually other ones with more features (albeit less status symbol-age) that function better. Plus 8 gigs is way too small for a guy with 50 gigs of music anyway. I mean sheeesh..you honestly expect me to only have like 10 hours straight of music? Who do you think I am!

Photogirl.. I have a Nikon D50 with sb-600 speedlight flash, 18-200 mm lens, 18-55 mm, and 70-300 mm. God bless slowly leeching it off my dad. I have other cameras (sony, and an old old old slr from the 70s..)..that is just the one I used.

Canon AE-1 - the only SLR you'll ever need 😍

something other than the iPOD...probably from Creative.

I don't think I've owned a creative product that hasn't crapped out on me within a year

Buy the new Mercedes I've had my eye on, new laptop, new PDA. Maybe even a gold stethoscope😎 I saw one at my hospital it looked AWESOME. New sound system, iPod, and a bunch of other stuff I haven't thought of yet.

I am going to hike the Appalachian Trail, beginning March 1. I hope I get in before then!

I'm jealous. I managed three weeks through the VT section, but didn't have the time for the whole thing or the knees for it. Good luck!

10 hours of straight music? are you using all lossless files or something? even with 8 gb of lossless files, you have more than 10 hours of music.

Oh, so when you go running, you like it when the harddrive skips? 8 gb of flash memory is a godsend.

Do you need to listen to 50 gigs of music at a time? or do you just like having it around with you to make you feel better? 8 gb is plenty. I don't need to go around carrying songs I know I have but won't listen to.

Burn my four MCAT review books and my many practice exams in the backyard, then dance around them in a circle while waving the acceptance letter in one hand and a victory torch in the other.

😴

Hmm. I was planning on doing that if I like my MCAT scores come October (substituting the acceptance letter with a print out of my scores of course and adding 5 more (9 total) books into the fire).

Anyway, last year I had one interview and 17 rejections. I took the rejection letter from the school I interviewed at, framed it, and used it as motivation as I studied to retake the MCAT. Dude, how'd you not get in last year? Your MCAT wasn't THAT bad but your GPA is the badonkadonk.

definitely a trip to somewhere far away and take a relaxing break.

I had the original 5 gig ipod, and am on my second 20 gig..never had a harddrive skip while running..sprints and all. I dropped it on the ground and it never skipped. They say they are 8 gigs...but they are usually less and just round up. My bad..but I honestly dont' see how it is the suppossed 2000 songs like apple says. I have downloaded 4 gigs of music in one day with relative ease. Even if it is 100 hours of music that is like 100 cds..and the way my mood shifts that just doesn't cut it. I guess bottom line is ..never had it skip ever.....during jumpsquats, during deadlifts, during sprints or even during a step aerobics class (yes I've taken one)....I've had only bad experiences with flash though and have actually had multiple friends have to send their nanos back with problems. I guess I would prefer paying 250 for 30 gigs and something that has never weighed me down versus 8 gigs as well. They get better every gen but still lots of problems. My prof actually helps design a lot of the features for the stuff and perfect them..so one of our projects might be to improve the nano..I'll get back to you after that. 😛

Oh and until recently all of my mp3s have been 128 kb mp3..although the quality kills me if I ever DJ for people..or just riding in my car so I am slowly starting to move over to better stuff.

Unless you've been keeping it in a humidor that thing's gonna light up like a firecracker.

Really? It's going to explode in my mouth like a Looney Tunes when bugs sticks a firecracker in someones cigar?

those new macs are pretty hot
Yeah, I'm salivating at the thought of switching. I just have to hold out to make sure that the med school I go to doesn't require PCs.
