So a good friend of mine is applying to D.O. this cycle, and I really don't know about the timing of the applications etc. Anyways, she's on the lower side on stats 3.3/26 and definitely needs the benefit of an early app, but she's not done writing her app yet (school/work etc).

How long does she have until her app would no longer be considered early? (I heard some D.O. schools do not even start looking at APPs until September or something?)

Thanks!!

The sooner the better! I'd say before it's July. Even if schools don't look at them till then, you want to be at the front of the line.

Take that with a VERY small grain of salt. A friend of mine (and a few others) have walked away with acceptances as early as September.

Before July is usually a good time.

That early huh? Some kind of EDP thing.. or.. really high stats? That's exciting!

Some schools interview in September and are quick on the turn around, that's all. Let me give you an analogy. Say you're single right, and you haven't gotten any in a while. You're gonna go out and get some 5-8s right. What happens when you're seeing a couple of the 7s consistently, and can call them up at anytime? You're not gonna go out of your way for anything less than an 8.

Another way to think about it is... Say your going out to swoon some 8-10s. The earlier you go, the better of a chance you have since the rest of the wolf pack doesnt come out till later and lets face it - they are better looking than you. Thus the 8-10s think "this is all we have, what the heck sure".

Have your primary submitted by the end of July and do your secondaries as soon as they come in.

The benefit of being much earlier is negligible. And a lot of the times they just sort you by stats anyway, regardless of when you submitted.

Ha ha ha! Thanks for the laugh. Sitting at my desk studying for the MCAT and I LOL'd 🙂

It is rolling acceptances... she needs to be working continuously on completing her app, ASAP.
