I am scheduled to take the June 16 MCAT, but I am going to hold off on applying til next year, so I am going to push back my MCAT date as well. I'm not sure if I want to take the exam in Sept. or Jan., and right now, I can only reschedule for Sept. because the 2012 test dates haven't been released. Rescheduling is only $60, but if I cancel my exam I will only get $160 back (i think). I'm not sure if I should just reschedule for Sept. and then reschedule again if I need to when the 2012 dates come out, or if I should just cancel and sign up when I am ready.

Registration doesn't open until early October (it was October 6, 2010 this cycle) https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/mcat/reserving/152894/deadlineandscorerelease.html

You get half back ($120) if you cancel at least 14 days before your test date. So your deadline to cancel is within the next couple of days. Do it now!

If you reschedule twice, you will pay the same as if you cancel now and schedule in 2012. But you still can't register for a 2012 date until October so it doesn't matter.
