I'm in a dilemma of whether I should postpone my test to August or take it in May 22. I last two practice test #7 and #8 were 28 (PS 10-11, VR 8-9, BS 9).

What is my chance of getting accepted? My GPA is 3.33 back then when I major in Computer Science 12 years ago, but recently I've got all A's in my pre-req science classes at community colleges except a B in Human Physiology at a University. I have 3 months of hospital volunteer experience with 4 hours a week, no research experience though. How do I get research experience?

I still have tons of practice tests that I need to go over and many of topical tests and session tests that I need to do. I feel that if I do them all, then my score would improve. However, I'm worried that if I don't take the MCAT in May, so that I can have my score in June, all of the spot available would be filled up. Do you think I should take the test in May 22 or should I postpone it to July 29? Which one would give me a better chance? An MCAT score of 29 and application completed in June or a MCAT score of 33 released in August?

Why is there such a big gap difference between dates you are deciding on? An MCAT score of 33 released in August is much better than a 29 and an application completed in June. They screen you based on your MCAT score and GPA, primarily, to determine whether or not to give you an interview. Your biggest issue is that the science classes you've taken were at community colleges. Unless you do ridiculously well on the MCAT 37+, no admissions committee is going to take your pre-reqs from a community college seriously. I'm trying to be real with you so you don't waste time and money when you don't have a legitimately good chance at the moment. You need to work on either 1) dominating the MCAT or 2) taking those pre-reqs at a university level institution.

Is it two weeks or 1 month before the test date for $55 fee? I think that if I take it in July, I would score 33, in August I would score 37. Perhaps I should move it to August then.

Test Center or Date Changes

Provided that space is available and you make the change prior to the posted regular registration deadline (see 2010 Registration Deadline and Score Release Schedule) associated with your initial test date, you may change your test date and/or test center. Additional registration fees will apply. If you make a change in both test date and center simultaneously, a single charge of just $55 will be levied; however, if you make separate changes, you will be charged individually for each, resulting in total charge of $110.

You will be charged for a change regardless of how quickly it is requested after your initial registration. We regret that we cannot make exceptions to this rule.

Cancellation

If you decide not to sit for the exam after you have registered for it, you will be eligible for a partial refund if you cancel your registration by the posted regular registration deadline (see 2010 Registration Deadline and Score Release Schedule). The maximum refund for the regular registration fee is $115; if you received fee assistance from the AAMC, your refund will be $85. Additional fees paid for late registration or other charges are not refundable.

Make your refund request by canceling your exam online at least 14 days before your test date. In most cases, the refund will be automatic and applied to your original form of payment; however, the funds may not appear on your account for a few days. Please note that the AAMC does not grant deadline extensions or have an appeal process.
If you miss the cancellation deadline, you may still request a cancellation without a refund. This will allow you to register sooner for another test date. If you wish to cancel after the deadline, contact the MCAT Resource Center no later than 2 business days prior to the test date for which you are registered.
