I will be applying for the entering class of 2009 and was wondering, should I start requesting and asking for LORs now?

if you have professors to ask, yes. ask asap. professors do forget who their students are. some take their sweet time and some say they'll write it and never do 🙄 - i know from personal experience. asking as early as you can allows you to have some leeway in the instance someone doesn't pull through.
also, i used the prehealth committee to compile a committee letter. it took them a month and a half to update my letter from last year and mail it out.

yes and also dont be afraid to keep following up because some will keep on forgetting. 😡

Talk to the professors about your interest in Dentistry and how you will be applying this May before they leave for winter break. And then when they come back for spring semester, ask if they would be willing ot write you a "strong LOR". Since its the start of the semester they usually aren't too busy. good luck!

Really good advice by TerpFan. You don't want your app held up by AADSAS b/c of a lazy or forgetful prof. Getting your application in early is one of the more controllable portions of the process and is one that is overlooked all to often. Give those profs a deadline around the end of April first week of May.

Good Luck to you!!

I just asked 3 profs for letter of rec last friday alone. I just walked up to them, and said

"can you write a strong and positive letter of rec on my behalf?" and they said sure.

Give yourself about 2-3 months to get them written submitted and processed. Earlier the better, so you dont have to wait on it when you are ready to apply.

Supraman,
also ask professors that have experience writing LOR.

i would give the profs a least a month to write the letters but the more the better

THanks for replies guys,

now did you all just ask them kindly and write a few things about yourself? What did you include or give to them? Thanks!
