Hi there!

Sorry if this is formatted incorrectly or posted in the incorrect board, but I've recently been accepted to (and paid my deposit for) ATSU KCOM.

I've had a lot of family members eagerly offer to buy me med school stuff for Christmas and was wondering if it would be a good idea to suggest First Aid as a gift now, or hold off until I'm actually in school.

Any recommendations?

You could just get it now while you can still receive it as a gift and keep it for school.

Ask for cash. You can buy resources closer to time or even after you start. A new edition comes out in January anyway so if you buy it now you’ll have an edition 3 years old by boards.

if you really want a hard copy book, the pathoma and sketchy books are better for first semester and won’t change much/at all on updates.

First off, congrats on the acceptance to KCOM, maybe we’ll see each other next summer! I have to agree with Ho0v, get the cash now and wait to buy resources closer to your start date.

First of all, what is "med stuff?"

First aid you can get at any time, heck you don't even need it for quite some time into med school really.

Ask for something enjoyable! You can get FA whenever. Not sure how your curriculum is set but I didn’t even get one until toward the end of my first semester after anatomy/histo/embryo.

FA is must have resource for annotating thru 1st and 2nd year, so you can use it when you start doing boards question practice.
Problem is, if you get it first year, there will be a new edition for your second year when you take boards.
