So, Its November 9th, and thus far I've only heard back from 7 of the programs I've applied to. My MSPE just went out like 3 days ago, so I'm basically wondering when should I start to worry and start e-mailing programs? I've heard that more often than not, no response= rejection, but is it too early to tell yet? Any advice/input would be appreciated.

Good Luck to all this interview season!🙂

It really depends.... how many programs are you waiting for? Are they top programs?

Having a match list of 7 is usually enough if you have a nice balance of schools as far as competitiveness goes. So don't get too worried.

I agree that 7 interviews is a good number. If you look at the AAMC/NRMP "Charting Outcomes in the Match" publication from last year (I attached it in case you haven't seen it before) , it looks like in 2006 188 US grads ranked 7 programs, and out of those, 186 matched. Those are great odds!

Of course, what really matters is if you are happy with the interviews you have received and can see yourself training at those programs.

This is purely speculation on my part, but I bet additional interview offers will be sent out in the next few weeks as people who have already received interview offers start to finalize their schedules and cancel interviews. I'm not sure if that is how it works, but I know a lot of people who have started to cancel interviews over the past few days!

Good luck!! :luck:

7 interviews would be plenty. I bet that once you hit your 6th, you won't want to go to the last one.

So be happy that you have 7 invites.
