When should I submit AACOMAS?

I have submitted AMCAS and all MD secondaries. Is there a certain "optimal" time when I should submit a DO application? I've heard that certain schools give you a 2 week deadline to pay a deposit. My fear is that should I get a DO acceptance while waiting on my MD apps, I may lose that acceptance.

It’s getting a little late in the cycle so if you are going to apply do it now. Some schools do have a two week deposit period however most follow AACOMAS rules. That means that if you get an acceptance before Nov 14 you have til December 14 to pay. So I got a DO acceptance back in early September so I have had 3 months to decide. After Nov 14 I think u have a month to decide. I would just read up on the AACOMAS rules.

Also DO deposits are expensive but you could always pay it to save your seat while you wait for the MD response. It’s all an investment for your future🙂

That makes much more sense.. I thought a deposit was to commit my attendance to that school haha.

It is to hold your seat, but you can chose to withdraw. The final date to be like HEY im actually coming here is later in April i think

Indeed. The deposit money is to be considered as insurance. There's no guarantee you will be getting an MD acceptance, and if you do you will make the money back as an attending anyway.
