Hello everyone,

I understand that most dental schools accepts DAT scores up to 2-3 years old, is that to the time of applying or entering the school?

Also, I am in my second year of college right now and I will be done with my gen chem, o-chem, english, and one year of bio after this year. Will it be a wise thing to take the DAT next summer (summer after my sophmore year) since physics and advance biology won't be on the test? When do people usually take the DAT? I would appreciate any comments. Thanks.

I think most people wait to take the DAT until they've taken all of their general courses such as o-chem, g-chem, and bio. (I'm not a typical student, but most take it after their junior year.)

Usually a general bio class is not enough preparation for the DAT. (If you are willing to put in the extra effort you might as we take it.)

I'd purchase the Kaplan blue book and base your level of bio on that. (Just don't rely on this completely. The bio section is pretty weak.)I

Yeah - usually you're safest to take it after your Junior year (take it EARLY summer though).

Only problem I encountered: I took Gen Chem and O Chem early in my college career and had almost forgotten everything....not a good thing on the DAT!!

Well, shoud I just take it next summer right after I finish o-chem when that material would still be fresh in my mind?

The vast majority of applicants take the DAT around the same time they submit their AADSAS application, give or take a few months. With that said I don't see why not as long as you do plan on graduating/applying within two years.
