When to buy MSAR

I will be applying the 2017-2018 application cycle. I recently got back my MCAT score, and I'd like to start making a list of schools to apply to, but I was wondering if I should wait until the next edition of the MSAR is released, or if I should just buy the one that is out now.

Doesn't it only last one year? Why would you buy it before you were ready to apply with an MCAT score? Seems like a waste of money...?

I think.. yet again I bought 2012's made a mistake hardcopy lol. I just read it to gain some insight before I joined this website.

When do you think the new MSAR will come out that has New MCAT matriculant data? This one only has application data for the new MCAT.
