for those of us with still barely any interviews, when do we really start to worry?

Should I be making a "plan b" for next year?

Trying to radiate confidence at the few interviews I do have, but that's getting harder with each day.

How many interviews is "enough" to relax a little?

I hear 7-8 interviews are needed to successfully match.
There is still time to get more interviews. At least 30 programs has not released offers yet. From looking at last years post offers went out until mid-Nov so wait and see how Nov goes. Some places may just be waiting for our Deans letter.

Thank you for your reassuring words. I will endeavor to wait 2 more weeks (until mid-November) before letting panic take hold. 😀

7-8 interviews may be needed to feel comfortable that your chances of matching are good, but only 1 interview is needed to successfully match. Don't panic until you don't match...the second time around.

Yes.. this is good advice. You only need 1! However, statistically, 7-8 interviews will make it more likely that you'll match.

I'm in panic mode. It's the end of Nov. and I don't have a back up plan. Did everyone that double booked cancel the interviews that they cannot attend? Especially the ones in the Northeast. Can I still expect some more movement? Is anyone else nervous?

I have one day that I'm double booked for (on 12/5, of course). I know I should cancel one ASAP, but it's ucler-inducing complicated and I'm waiting to hear back from some people. (And once I cancel one, I'll only have 5 interviews, so it's not like I'm rolling in them.)

I completely understand baya. You are in a similar situation. I guess I meant this for all the people with over 10-15 interviews in the month of December. If you are going to cancel please start doing that now. Thank you alleyesonme for finalizing your interview schedule.

Thanks for not being mad about the double booking. 🙂
Actually, I just got a call back this am from one of them with an alternate date, so I can keep them both. (ulcer shrinking already)

Congrats Baya

Congrats Baya

Thanks. That brings me to 6, which is probably the end of the line. Reasonable odds, but not great.
