I'm currently an undergrad with 23 credits left until I graduate and 4 classes I would like to retake (two of which are intermediate algebra and college algebra, don't ask). Recalculated my GPA with the AACOMAS excel sheet and I currently sit at a 3.0/3.1, after retakes I will be at 3.5/3.5.

I believe it to be true that all US med schools want your bachelor's before you matriculate, is there any disadvantage at all for one to submit their application without being awarded their degree yet? (all prepreqs will be done) Don't 99% of applicants apply their Junior year anyway? (I'm non-trad, not very familiar with the "traditional timeline")

I will have my application finalized within the first week of June 2014 and I would consider taking classes over the summer/fall while I'm still able to take advantage of financial aid and my scholarships. (I won't have the grants and scholarships if I graduate with my BS).

So would it be a good idea for me to submit my primaries without my bachelors and continue to take some courses throughout the summer/fall semesters, mainly upper level bio courses or would it be more beneficial to state that my bachelors has been awarded already?

A good proportion if not the majority of applicants submit without completion of degree with plans to finish before matriculation. It's probably lower in DO schools than MDs but I don't believe it makes a difference at all assuming person updates school with Bach prior to matriculation.

Btw you prolly don't want to throw around ******ed here.

Is ******ed really the word to use here? Sorry, just have gripes with the improper usage of that word.

As long as you graduate before matriculate, it doesn't matter, as well as have most of your pre-reqs done at the time of application(but can have some in progress through the cycle to be completed before matriculation)

gluck.

No you're fine. It's normal for a lot of people to apply 3rd year summer and start at the end of their 4th year.

Sorry, probably not the best word to use but if you knew my relationship with mathematics you would understand.

This is what I was thinking, how exactly is one's applications updated after the fact? Is it as simple as logging into AACOMAS or is it something done through secondaries, or something else?

You include the courses you intend to take as currently in progress for the semester you intend to take them. You label all the retakes that are not yet complete (and the courses they are replacing) as RNY. After receiving a grade in the courses (after each semester) you send AACOMAS an updated transcript and they update the application and send them to schools. The process takes 1-2 weeks, and be sure to double check that the update was processed properly.

That gpa increase doesn't make sense to me unless you are putting math as a science.
