When to send in recommendation letters

Hi everyone! When are we supposed to send in recommendation letters? I thought we were supposed to send them after we receive our secondaries. But from reading previous posts, I learned that you can send them in before? So how does this work???

Usually they're sent with secondaries, but some people send LORs in earlier because their premed office only allows letters to be sent out once, so they have to send them to all schools. If you have a choice, I'd recommend not doing this. Some med schools specifically state that LORs received before a secondary is requested will be destroyed.

From what I have been reading, it's school specific when you send them. I looked at each school's site and some want them with the primary, some want them with the secondary. Some schools even send you like this little evaluation thingy that you have to give your recommender to fill out and mail back. In other words, check with each school (their website is a good place to check) to see what THEY want. I have four that want recs with primary, one that wants a rec after secondary, and two that have the forms which are sent with the secondary.
