Hello everybody, I recently finished a SMP degree (this past summer) that was in-progress at the time of my secondaries. I also moved to a the town I was commuting to so I could become a full-time employee and have taken on leadership at a new service opportunity.

I am aware that update letters are more for after being waitlisted and showing intent, but I am afraid that some schools are passing up on interviewing me due to having In progress classes that I finished in my SMP during this past summer.

I was wondering, if it was appropriate to update programs with the transcript and writing a letter to show that I am following through on the my projected activities?

How long ago were your secondaries submitted? General rule of thumb is don't bother with updates until middle of October at earliest, although maybe that's different with the SMP degree (adcoms, chime in on when it'd be appropriate to submit a transcript for a completed degree).

I would say the vast majority were submitted between July 15th and July 27th. Yea my main conundrum is definitely the grades/IP degree, if it was just activities I would just wait.

DO schools will be OK with the update, but it might be too late for MD schools (except your state school) if they don't have all your paperwork by now.

But it won't hurt to send an update.
I think their might have been something lost in communication here.

I turned in all appropriate/required materials at the time of my primary submission (June) , and in secondaries that asked for my plans for the year or updates in general I answered with my plans and other available information. One thing that was not finalized at the point of submitting my secondaries was the final grades for my SMP which concluded the first week of august.

Since I finished the final semester of my SMP after turning in my secondaries (and thus was In-progress at the time of both my primary and secondary application), I was wondering if that was something major I should update schools with?
