Hi all. Just as the title says, I’m planning to update 2 schools (School A and B) that I’ve been “deferred” post interview at since January. School B is better than School A overall. I’m starting a new COVID screening job so the update to the schools would include this and a reiteration of why I think I’m a good fit.

My question is: Should I send this update to them now or wait until I hear back from them again in April when they send out Acceptance/Waitlist/Rejection notifications?

If I were to make it onto the waitlist at school B, I may consider adding the update into a letter of intent. However, I understand making it onto the waitlist is an assumption I would have to make and there is risk involved (e.g. being rejected). Any input is appreciated!
Starting a new job is not going to move the needle at all.

I know you want to be told the secret of turning one of these WL's into an A, but honestly it doesn't sound like you have anything worth updating about. Send the letter if you want, let it be an update or an LOI or whatever makes you feel like you "did everything you could," but the timing (and indeed the letter itself) does not matter.

Gotcha. I originally wrote on my secondary that I planned to work as a scribe, but didn’t end up finding a job so it didn’t happen. School B asked about it during my interview and I told them the truth, so that’s why I thought maybe they wanted to see me get more clinical experience, and thus I thought the job would help my chances.
Not after the interview.
