When to set up Rotations?

From what I have been reading everyone is saying call the GME coordinators about 6 months out from a rotation to schedule it. But I have also read to call long before that. I am just curious when to call to set it up...does anyone know? Are there some hospitals that hold spots before the 6 month mark?

Call early January. Some places may accept calls/reservations now, but others will tell you that they cannot schedule you until the new calendar year begins.
