Hello

I am planning on applying this cycle but my gpa is very low.
I was planning on taking some courses to try to raise my gpa this spring.
My final grades won't come out til end of june. Should I still try to submit first batch and update after my grades come out or just submit after june with my new grades?
I'm afraid they will just trash my application once they see my gpa (pre-spring classes).
Is it better to wait?

Thank you

Depends how trash and on your DAT

If trash trash then wait after your spring grades come out-won't be too long of a delay

I have a 24AA 26TS and 27PAT
but my sci gpa is a 2.9 and cum a 3.15
I plan to raise it to a sci 2.99 and cum 3.2!
Should I wait?
Or is that difference not even worth it...

ughh so close to 3.0...but I would still wait until Spring grades for you; applying early July/late June won't be too much of a disadvantage. The numerical difference might not be too great, but when we're talking about that GPA range, an upward trend really helps.

.01... away from a 3...
I was going to take summer classes too but those grades wouldn't come out til end of august so I wanted to apply first!
If I already have an upward trend would you still recommend waiting til end of june?
Thank you so much for replying btw!
When is it considered "late" to apply? mid july?
Do they sometimes not look at the application once I update it?
thanks again!

I would definitely apply before your Summer grades come out! From what I've seen from my friends, you'll have the most success if you apply no later than mid-July (it won't make much of a difference if you apply in June/early July). I would still recommend getting an extra quarter/semester of grades and waiting til the end of June because the more you show you're no longer a sub 3.0-term student, the better. I would consider August and after "late". After you submit your application, the next academic update will be in December-schools do take a look at those if you're on the border of receiving an interview or if you've already interviewed.

Sorry for piggybacking this thread, but I have a similar question, so I'd appreciate your response!
I'm currently in a Master's program, and currently this is only my first semester. Taking 4 grad courses and I'm pretty sure I'll get all A's in those courses (but still assuming). Would you suggest me applying early June with only these grades submitted as part of my grad work, or should I take a couple of relatively easy courses, get A's (assuming), and THEN apply, but at the end of July/early August?

In other words, is it better to sacrifice the time I submit my application for a couple of additional A's??

Ouch...if you could have everything submitted by late July then yeah, go for it...but if you risk early August I would have to consider your other stats as well..

Man, I don't know.
I'd apply to only a few schools and see how they take your gpa/dat while preparing to reapply next cycle (raise gpa)
