Hi, I just found out I did poorly on Step 2 (204) and I did decently on Step 1 (220) I had chosen not to automatically send my Step 2 scores, so now the question is when to send it. I am applying to anesthesia. Should I send it before my interviews so it's all out in the open (also, they know I took it in sept) or should I wait until after interviews are over. If I do that, what should I say in interviews if they ask me about my Step2 score that is not there?
Thanks for any help...

hey, can u explain why they know you have taken it already?

On ERAS, i choose the option to withold my score until i want to release it, but I did not list a 'test date' for step 2. did you do the same? if so, how would they kno you took it already?

anyways, i think you should withold it. However, if you get asked during interviews, then tell the truth obviously cuz they can confirm it in the future. if you dont get asked, then just dont tell them.

Yes, I unfortunately indicated on ERAS that I was taking it in 9/04. I did that before I even took it. Bad idea, but too late now!

You can always tell them that you pushed it off a few months. I had written I was taking Step II in Nov, but didn't end up taking it until January. (Then kicked butt, and wished I had taken it sooner!) Only one program asked me about the november date. Only problem with this is, you're lying. There are personal moral implications with this as well as they may find out and realize you are dishonest. I would personally not bring it up unless they ask, and not release the scores to anyone who doesn't specifically request it.

Good luck on your interviews!

When in doubt, I'd just tell the truth. No need to volunteer the fact that you took it, or your score (which isn't THAT bad, honestly! 🙂 ), but if they ask, you gotta come clean.

Man I'm a loser for choosing to automatically retransmit! 😕 I thought that's what most people did.

I agree with Blade. If they ask, tell them the truth. One thing I have noticed is that programs pay very little attention to what you write in your CAF about taking the tests. I have had a couple of programs ask me when I'd take the CK or CS while they could easily have looked it up. My longwinded point is that no one probably has paid attention to the September date and most likely won't ask.

Nah, that's what I did. 🙂 I automatically checked off both of those boxes, too. Then again, by the time I was certifying and submitting my CAF (Sep 1), I'd taken Step 2 already!
