When to take intern experience off resume?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I've been working as a staff pharmacist at a hospital for about 7 months and at an independent for about 9 months. Should I even have my intern experience on the resume?
It depends.

If the experience is relevant to your goals, then I would keep it on there until you have at least 5 years of experience in that setting. Many employers want 5 years of experience as a licensed pharmacist in this or that type of pharmacy before they'll consider you for an advanced position.

If you worked as a pharmacy tech, then I would definitely leave that experience on your resume until you have at least 2 years of experience in whatever setting you want to end up in. This can help to offset any experience that you may be lacking, because it shows that you've been around for a while and it quantifies that by showing that you've worked in a pharmacy for ___ number of years.

Also, you may want to leave older experience on your resume if you're trying to get rehired at a company.

The issue I'm having is that if I leave my intern jobs on the resume, it drags my resume past 1 page.
How is that possible? You've only had 2 jobs since you've graduated. 😕

2 intern jobs on it. My hospital pharmacist position has like 10 bullet points, retail has 5 bullet points, education is 6 lines, certification is 3 lines.

I suppose I could try and fix the spacing. There are parts that look double spaced but when I go to select are single spaced.

You could just set your printer to print the second page on the back of the first.

In that way, you could put the intern stuff on the back and just put a brief statement about intern experience being on backside.

Thus, you keep your 1 page and if they care to see intern info. it is on there, but out of the way and not cluttering up the resume.

Since you are still a fairly recent grad, I would keep it on there. That way people know you have more pharm experience beyond those 7 mo. Once you are more established, you can take it off.

Leave it on. I'm all for deleting extraneous things on CVs/resumes, but pharmacy-related job experience doesn't fall into that. You never know what a future employer is looking for or who they might know.

It seems like 10 bullet points for 1 job is too much and 6 lines for education is too much.

Make it:

Doctor of Pharmacy..............................................................May 2012
Sparda's College of Pharmacy.................................It's Real I Swear, NY

Bachelor of Undergrad in Spardology.......................................May 2008
Sparda's Bonafide College Shindig...................................Totes Real, NY

That'll save you a couple of lines and make it look prettier. (With dots representing space...left align some stuff and right align other stuff)

That's unnecessary.

There are definitely ways to reduce the number of lines allotted to education. My resume is formatted in such a way that my education takes up 5 lines with one line being dedicated to graduating with honors. I don't have the city and state of my universities because that's understood.

I would suggest tailoring it to the job you are applying for. If your intern experience is in an area similar to the job you are applying for, leave it on. If it's not, take it off.
