I am a sophomore in college and I have been getting suggestions on taking an MCAT prep course during the summer to start preparing for the MCAT. I initially thought that it was pretty early and I won't remember all the material by summer of junior year when I plan on taking the MCAT, but I want to get some opinions from other people. I have read the 3 month plan posted on this forum and plan on following through with that as extra prep.

The main issue I have is that if I take an MCAT prep course during the school year, I'll have to deal with the MCAT coursework and schoolwork and that could be overwhelming. I am also aware that taking the course closer to the MCAT test date is better, but it feels like it will be a lot of work. Please let me know what you guys think and the experience you had if you dealt with the same issue.

Thanks

What my friend did who took it in May, is he took a light load of classes. Just two science courses with the rest being gen eds(maybe 14-16 credits I'm not exactly sure). He is doing really well with his classes and devoting a lot of his free time to his course and preparing for the MCATs. He is a bright and dedicated individual so he's doing fine with time management. So it definitely can be done, but you have to be willing to be the necessary amount of work in.

Is he taking the prep course as a junior or sophomore and is he planning on taking the MCAT a later time since the MCAT prep course is usually a few months long?

I am also a sophomore who is planning on taking a prep course...I considered taking it this summer, but I have opted to not to because I know I will forget a lot of it over the course of a year. I am going to take it during my spring semester next year and then take the MCAT after
